China, South Korea to join hands for the next 30 years: Chinese Premier Li Keqiang

BEIJING: Chinese Premier Li Keqiang said on Wednesday that China and the Republic of Korea (ROK) will jointly hold hands for the next 30 years of mutual prosperity.

The premier made the remarks at a business cooperation forum commemorating the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and the ROK.

Noting that the two countries have been good neighbors for years and the two peoples have enjoyed an abundant history of friendly exchange, leaders from both sides attached great importance to this anniversary and exchanged congratulations, Li said.

Thirty years of mutual development has brought fruitful achievements in business cooperation, bringing bilateral blessings and making significant contributions to regional and world peace.

With the international situation changing amid complex circumstances and global economic development facing multiple unstable and uncertain factors, the two sides should uphold mutual respect and equality to accommodate each other’s core interests and major concerns and promote bilateral development, Li said.

The premier suggested ways of deepening cooperation on innovation, advanced manufacturing, digital economy, green development and dealing with climate change, adding that phase two of negotiations on the China-ROK free trade agreement should be settled soon.

People and enterprises can benefit from the opportunities presented by the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP), Li said.

Li highlighted that the door of China will stay open to the world. Devoted to creating a law-based and market-oriented atmosphere, China is becoming rich soil for enterprise investment and a highland for business promotion. The premier said China is embracing investments from every country, including the ROK, to share development opportunities.
